Bill Garland
Director, Embedded Software
Bill joined the Software Group at Plextek in 1993 and has been responsible for the project management and design of advanced demodulator systems, test equipment and system analysis tools. During this time he has worked on a range of communications systems including broadband access, GSM, UMTS and wireless local loop. He has expertise in the areas of signal processing for wireless communications, protocol stack implementation, network design and system test. As the Software Group Director, he maintains a strong interest in software development methodologies with a constant goal of continuous improvement in the planning and delivery of software products.
Previously Bill worked for Crosfield Electronics where he was responsible for the design, development and support of communications systems including high-speed fibre optic LANs.
Bill obtained his first class degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Portsmouth Polytechnic as part of a sandwich course with GEC Telecommunications.
