Smart Home Technology Design
Plextek helps clients realise their innovative ideas by providing electronics, software and system design skills. We also help established companies move into new "green" and environmental product areas with specialised assistance in the area of low power design, sensor systems and carbon footprint evaluation.
Plextek helps clients develop products for assisted living, new educational methods, environmental awareness and energy saving systems. We are also actively monitoring technologies related to electric vehicles, smart metering, micro generation, solar energy and local power management.
It is often difficult for entrepreneurs with innovative product ideas to understand what is possible to achieve with current technology or how to implement an idea in a cost effective manner. In order to address this, Plextek provides an important part of the product development team by providing key engineering skills and expertise.
Example Projects
- Plextek has worked with one of the world's largest white goods manufacturers to develop disruptive technology that will significantly change the capabilities of a key product line. Building on the relationship we have also worked on a number of other product lines to propose cost savings along more traditional lines.
- Plextek was one of the first companies to develop wireless local loop technology that brings broadband data to residential properties. We worked closely with an innovative service provider to develop a wireless mesh network that could easily be deployed across metropolitan areas. The system underwent successful trials with British Telecom.
