Plextek has enabled clients to develop leading products using DECT, GSM, GPRS, EDGE, W-CDMA, UMTS and HSPA technology.  We are actively working on projects based on 4G technologies such as LTE and WiMax.

Cellular Technology Design

Plextek has developed cellular products in areas as diverse as handsets, data-cards, smart phones, gaming devices and network infra-structure components.  We offer a one-stop-shop for complete product development including mechanical design and manufacturing test station development.

Plextek's software group undertakes protocol stack, layer 1 and DSP development whilst our embedded systems group develop board support packages and applications based on Android and Windows Mobile.

Plextek provides full RF layout, electronics design and component selection services that minimise manufacturing costs.  We also offer high speed digital design and FPGA/ASIC technology for OFDM, MIMO and other advanced techniques.

Example Projects

• Plextek designed a multi-media handset and took it through to mass-production for a client. The development included initial industrial design; chipset selection; hardware and RF layout; software integration and final type approval. The product was successfully launched on time and under budget.
• A US client wanted to develop a range of wireless data cards. Plextek rapidly developed a set of devices providing the client with a comprehensive product range covering 2G, 3G and broadband technologies. An aggressive focus on component cost during the design phase ensured that the client achieved maximum margins on the final product.
