Plextek's FOX DSP development platform

Plextek becomes latest member of industry-leading global DSP third party network

Consulting services now available on Texas Instruments™ TMS320C5000 and TMS320C6000 DSP generations

To enhance the level of consulting services offered to DSP developers, Plextek has announced today that it has become a member of Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI) third party network. The communications technology consultancy, based near Cambridge, joins a select, yet extensive, group of independent companies and consultants providing Digital Signal Processing (DSP) development support for developers of TI's TMS320™ family of DSPs.

DSP is now a key enabling technology in communications and applications such as telecommunications (wired and wireless), radar, sonar, video, professional audio, acoustics and vibration analysis. TI's DSPs feature in more than one thousand third-party products worldwide, with many more under development and, therefore, are the choice of many systems developers to form the basis for many successful products. With many years of experience developing DSP based products, Plextek is a natural addition to the large and growing network of third-party systems developers that make up the program.

"We are delighted to join this prestigious global third party network. Over many years, Plextek has developed numerous DSP-based technologies, including software radios, digital modems, equalisers, and FEC decoders. Access to TI's third party network further adds to our capabilities in DSP design," said Dr Colin Smithers, managing director of Plextek. "Plextek will be part of a group that provides products offering a broad range of application software, development hardware and software and consulting services around the world - namely, the products and tools to help customers accelerate development and reduce time-to-market for new DSP-based products."

Plextek will support TI's TMS320C5000™ and TMS320C6000™ DSP generations. In addition, two development platforms, one containing dual TMS320C6701 processors, and the other with a TMS320C5416, are available for system development. Software development will utilise the extensive capabilities of Code Composer Studio development tools.

"Plextek brings a wide range of DSP experience to our customers and helps them to accelerate their design cycle by providing very experienced consulting services on TI's C5000™ and C6000™ DSP generations," said Raymond Wagstaffe, Worldwide DSP Third Party Manager. "We are excited to add the services of Plextek to our portfolio and look forward to the support they will provide our customers."
