Design and Supply
In addition to Plextek's extensive design services, we also offer a
complete design and supply capability for client specified, electronic
products. We have undertaken the design and supply of a wide range of
custom electronics including individual modules, subsystems, specialist
test equipment and system installation equipment. Plextek has a purpose
built assembly/test lab and handles production volumes of tens-off to
several thousand, with higher volumes accommodated through partnerships
with approved CEM's. Plextek has developed strong supply chain relationships
with a range of local, national and international contract manufacturers. This route is used for very high volume design and supply jobs, such as that awarded to Plextek by LoJack for their next generation of stolen vehicle recovery transceiver. The transceiver forms part of their stolen vehicle recovery system that provides law enforcement agencies with the ability to track and recover LoJack equipped stolen vehicles. Plextek is now supplying large quantities of transceivers to various locations worldwide. Plextek's manufacturing partner in this instance is Clarion (Malaysia), part of the Clarion automotive electronics group.

In support of the product design and
development, Plextek can also identify national and international regulatory
requirements, establish an efficient and cost effective route to compliance
as well as managing the approval process and CE marking.

The photograph top left, shows the base station transceiver used in
the remote metering system. A trial of 50,000 users is currently underway
using this system. All base station transceivers for this trial were
designed and supplied by Plextek. The photograph top right shows one
of the Tracker uplink receivers. This is a high sensitivity, narrow
band receiver developed as an enhancement to the original system. It
is a base station mounted receiver with robust blocking performance
that allows two way communications to the vehicle and facilitates a
location capability. To date, around 600 receiver units have been supplied
and are in operational use in the field.

all of our product developments and is vital in ensuring problem free production.
Plextek holds BS EN ISO9001:2000 certification and is an approved supplier
to a range of government departments and utilities including the DTI, MOD
and the Home Office.
