Technology Graduates Wanted

About the position

Would you like to work on novel healthcare solutions and wearables, smart city technology or advanced robotic systems? Radar sensors for autonomous drones or inspecting rail infrastructure? What about mobile ad-hoc radio networks or GPS-denied navigation? Or do underwater or aircraft-based sensor and communications systems float your boat? These are all current projects at Plextek and we need the brightest minds to join our diverse teams to deliver them.

Our mission is to bring together exceptional people to deliver innovative technology for smart sensing, advanced communications and intelligent data insight. Our work is largely driven by technical development and innovation. One of the great advantages of working here is that no two projects are the same. If you are an enthusiastic, adaptable and motivated person who thrives on variety, enjoys learning new skills and facing exciting challenges then this is the place to be.

We are looking for technology graduates with skills in electronics and software to join the team. We will provide you with the training and experience to develop your technical skills so that they can be applied to challenging projects with tight deadlines. The career path for technology graduates is to work towards becoming a technology consultant. The ‘consultant’ part of the role means you’ll also need to enjoy communicating with customers or potential customers. This might involve providing regular progress updates to a customer or working closely with their own team. In the consultant role you will also support our sales team in selling our capabilities (including yourself!) to potential customers. In short, this is not just a backroom role, but an opportunity to build your technical skills for a career in a technology research and development consultancy.

The work itself is extremely varied, from cost sensitive high volume consumer electronics, to high reliability designs in avionics and medical and all points between. Projects can vary from early-stage studies of product concepts and feasibility through to production-ready designs and sometimes manufacturing.

We are looking for candidates with or expecting a first- or upper second-class degree in electronic engineering, software engineering, physics or an associated subject. If you are smart, have good written English skills and a passion for technology then we would like to hear from you.

Based on your degree and preferences, we will develop your skills for expertise in our core areas of analogue electronics design, digital electronics design and VHDL, embedded software, database and server software, RF design and signal processing. Candidates who can show evidence of their interest in technology through hobbies and/or work experience will have an advantage. The positions are open to UK nationals, including those with dual nationality.

In return we offer a competitive package and a stimulating environment that will encourage you to be your best. You will derive satisfaction from working in a professional but close-knit team with a keen focus on delivery. We provide all the training and support that you need to complete your projects and develop your career. We are a versatile business and are able to support career progression in many dimensions including technical, commercial and managerial.

We are based just south of Cambridge with easy road and rail routes to the vibrant city centre. We provide a friendly and supportive working environment including regular on-site and off-site social events.

Plextek’s purpose is to create exceptional technology for our customers, provide rewarding work in a collaborative, enjoyable environment and make a meaningful impact on society. As a company, we share a set of values including being passionate about what we do, being leaders not followers, encouraging diversity in outlook, working with integrity and honesty and delivering on our commitments. If you can relate to this, then we’d love to hear from you.
