Space Sector Focussed Project Manager

You will play a pivotal role in the successful delivery of technically complex projects with a significant software, electronics, or embedded systems component — particularly within the space sector. This is a highly client-facing role, requiring close collaboration with sales, engineering, and customer teams to shape opportunities, secure work, and deliver cutting-edge solutions for space applications.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage space-sector development projects, covering a wide range of applications including satellite systems, communications payloads and space-based sensing.
• Maintain strong, professional relationships and ensure clear communication at all levels, both internally and with clients.
• Drive high performance teams across multidiscipline, across software, electronics, RF, and systems engineering, ensuring alignment with space qualification and mission requirements.
• Deliver projects on time and within budget, managing schedules, resources, risks, and change effectively alongside a technical lead.
• Apply structured project management approaches, including Work Breakdown Structures (WBS), and Microsoft Project, adapted for regulated or space-qualified environments.
• Ensure clear reporting and governance throughout the project lifecycle.
• Support continuous improvement in project delivery processes, particularly related to the unique demands of space-sector projects.

• Work closely with the sales team and technical leads to scope opportunities, provide cost and time estimates, and shape proposals that are technically and commercially sound.

The Person

• Proven experience managing complex technical projects in the space domain — this could include satellite subsystems, payload electronics, software systems, or space qualification programmes.
• A strong technical background, ideally with a degree in aerospace, electronics, systems, or software engineering (or equivalent experience).
• Familiar with space-specific challenges, standards and processes such as environmental testing, radiation effects, reliability analysis, and system-level validation.
• Strong emotional intelligence and people management skills, with the ability to inspire and guide high-performing teams.
• A confident and clear communicator, able to engage credibly with clients ranging from engineers to senior executives.
• Comfortable applying structured project management tools and techniques and adapting delivery strategies to mission-critical environments.
• Motivated, detail-oriented, and calm under pressure, with a commitment to delivery excellence and client success.
